CLP, one of the largest investor-owned power businesses in the Asia-Pacific region, has marked 125 years of providing electricity in Hong Kong.  Headquartered in the city since 1901, CLP supplies reliable electricity to more than 80 percent of the population, maintaining a world-class reliability of over 99.999 percent. The company remains committed to advancing sustainable energy solutions while continuing to grow with Hong Kong’s development and prosperity.

World-class reliability

The lights come on instantly with a simple flick of a switch. Behind this convenience lies CLP’s steadfast commitment to maintaining a supply reliability rate of 99.999 percent. From the early years of building a solid power grid to today’s smart grid, real-time data monitoring, and drone inspection technology, every unit of electricity carries CLP’s promise to the city.

與時俱進 客戶為先

在未有互聯網的時代，中電於多個地區設有繳費處，甚至出動流動服務車，便利市民交電費。今天，大家只需一按手機，就可以用電子支付方式完成繳款，繳費方式的轉變，見證了城市生活的演進，也成為珍貴的集體回憶。

Serving our customers

In the days before the internet, CLP set up payment offices in various districts and even deployed mobile cashier vans to make it easier for people to pay their electricity bills. Today, with just a tap on a smartphone, customers can settle their bills electronically. The long queues for bill payments have become a shared memory of the past.

投資潔淨能源

中電在1903年落成啟用位於紅磡漆咸道的首座發電廠，設有三部小型燃煤發電機。1940年，鶴園發電A廠建成，並在1960至1980年代相繼建成鶴園發電C廠、青衣發電廠及屯門青山發電廠，為香港工業化與經濟騰飛注入穩健動力。

中電早於上世紀八、九十年代已展開低碳轉型。1994年，大亞灣核電廠正式投產，同期中電開始引進天然氣發電，開啟了清潔能源的新篇章。今天，中電持續投資包括海上液化天然氣接收站、龍鼓灘新燃氣機組等低碳發電設施，並推出「可再生能源上網電價」計劃，鼓勵市民一起實現2050年碳中和目標。

Investing in clean energy

In 1903, CLP commissioned its first power station on Chatham Road in Hung Hom, equipped with three small coal-fired generators. In 1940, the Hok Un “A” Power Station was completed, followed by Hok Un “C” Power Station, Tsing Yi Power Station, and Castle Peak Power Station in Tuen Mun between the 1960s and 1980s, injecting strong momentum into Hong Kong’s industrialisation and economic boom.

CLP began its low-carbon transition as early as in the 1980s and 1990s. In 1994, the Daya Bay Nuclear Power Station was commissioned, and at the same time, CLP introduced natural gas generation, opening a new chapter in clean energy. Today, CLP has invested in low‑carbon facilities such as the offshore LNG terminal and new gas‑fired generation units in Black Point Power Station, and it launched the Feed-in Tariff Scheme to encourage carbon reduction, aligning with Hong Kong's 2050 carbon neutrality goal.

CLP has long been an active participant in Hong Kong’s social development. In recent years, it has promoted electric vehicles to encourage carbon reduction. It also supports the Northern Metropolis development plan and smart city initiatives, unlocking more opportunities for future generations. The new CLP Headquarters is a symbol of our confidence in Hong Kong and our commitment to its future.
