要準備小一叩門，叩門信是必須，除非學校列明，一般中文或英文都可，教育專家Spencer Lam提供了撰寫叩門信的必備技巧，以及一封英文信範本。「每封叩門信都是獨一無二，應該展現出孩子和家庭的獨特性，打造出一封既有說服力又充滿個人特色的叩門信。」

小一叩門信技巧1.對學校深入了解  

撰寫叩門信時，需顯示出能深刻理解學校的教育理念，例如學校強調「全人教育」，家長可以提到孩子在體藝方面的特長，並能夠與學校的理念相呼應。 

小一叩門信技巧2.仔細提供具體事例

信中提供具體事例，讓學校對孩子的能力有更生動了解，舉例不應只提及孩子有「同理心」，而應該提供實例：「於幼稚園活動中，（孩子名字）主動幫助了一位跌倒的同學，並陪伴他直到老師到來……」

小一叩門信技巧3.家長參與承諾的重要性  

家長承諾對學校活動的支持及參與，可以增加叩門信的吸引力，顯示出家庭對教育的全面支持，並表明願意成為學校的一分子。例子：「我們願意參與和支持學校的國際節（舉例），通過分享我們的文化和食物，擴大學生的國際視野……」

小一叩門信技巧4.個性化的結尾  

結尾應該再次強調家長對學校的信任和對孩子未來的期望，同時要有一個溫暖而個性化的結尾，這可以增加回應的可能性。
