For over a year I have been on the road after returning to the US from Hong Kong. I have visited numerous US cities while on the road but made sure I kept abreast of the news in Hong Kong and globally. To be on the road means to travel to many different places. To keep abreast of something means to make sure you have the latest information about something. I am no longer on the road in the US. I returned to Asia two weeks ago. Asia has already decided to co-exist with the coronavirus except for mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau.

To co-exist means to live or exist together with someone or something else.Europe, the US, Singapore, and elsewhere no longer require facemasks. I am now in Taiwan for the first leg of my Asia trip. Taiwan has mostly opened up but still requires facemasks and the so-called 0+7 rule, which means no quarantine but seven days of self-monitoring. The first leg of something means the first part of something, such as the first city during a vacation.

I have not worn a facemask for so long that I always forget to wear one when going out in Taipei. A restaurant manager warned me when I forgot to wear one while leaving the restaurant after lunch. I plan to visit Penang after Taipei. I won’t visit Hong Kong because it still requires multiple virus tests.

由香港回到美国的一年多以来，我一直在旅途上（on the road）。我在这旅途中（on the road）到访了不少美国城市，但仍确保我跟得上（kept abreast of）香港和世界新闻。To be on the road是指游历许多不同的地方。To keep abreast of something是指确保自己掌握某事的最新资讯。我不再在美国旅游（on the road）了，两星期前我回到了亚洲。除了中国内地、香港和澳门，整个亚洲已决定与新冠肺炎病毒co-exist。

To co-exist是指与另外一个人或一件事物共存、共处。欧洲、美国、新加坡及其他地方已不再需要戴口罩。我现身处台湾，作为我亚洲之行的首站（the first leg）。台湾大致上已开放，只是仍需要戴口罩，以及所谓的 0+7措施，意即不用隔离，但需要七天自我监察的自主防疫。The first leg of something是指某事情的第一部份，例如旅程中第一个踏足的城市。

我已经很久没有戴口罩了，因此在台北出外时，常常忘记要戴口罩。有一次我午餐用膳后正要离开餐厅之际，餐厅经理出言提醒，因为我忘了戴口罩。台北过后，我计划到槟城游览。我不会到香港了，因为香港仍要求做好几次的病毒检测。
